From Clare, Illinois, United States; Larry Forsberg is a visitor that for three years has been taking walks in Marina Vallarta to carry out voluntary cleaning work and thus contribute to maintaining the good appearance of this beautiful neighborhood.

To learn more details about this action, the editorial staff of Vallarta Lifestyles approached him, the author of this laudable initiative, who shared his approach to Puerto Vallarta: “12 years ago, my wife and I came to Puerto Vallarta for the very first time. Everything happened because we wanted to spend our vacations in Mexico, and since we both knew Cabo San Lucas, we wanted to discover other destinations, so we looked on a map, we saw Puerto Vallarta and we simply said, ‘well, why not?’. That time we stayed for three weeks, but we loved it so much that year after year we started to come, increasing our stay”.

Lately this couple spends from three to four months in Vallarta · Nayarit (from the beginning of the year until easter), time in which Forsberg takes advantage of his walks to collect, with the help of a garbage collector, from public transport tickets, threads, candy wrappers and napkins, to cigarette butts and chewing gum, waste that he keeps in a plastic bag.

“I started doing this when my wife suggested I go outside to take advantage of the good weather in Puerto Vallarta and walk to stay active. This is how I began to notice that, although the streets of this neighborhood are beautiful and clean most of the time, there are small pieces of garbage that pile up, and could cause future harm, mainly in the rainy season, since it is very possible that most of this waste ends up in the sea. For this reason I decided to do my bit in the conservation of these public spaces, since it is an action that really does not cost anything”, he concludes.

Keeping the streets in good condition is everyone’s job, so we invite you to put your trash, however small, in the right place, since small actions achieve great changes.

“When I first opened my gallery in 1986, my relationship with Vallarta Lifestyles started for the need of people to know me and, because it is one of the very few quality publications in the destination, I decided to advertise in it. There are clients that still remember me for the magazine, with whom I have had several years of relationship.”

“Vallarta Lifestyles is really well positioned. We are aware of that because we have seen people who arrive to our jewelry with the issue or the advertising in hand asking about the product that is featured there. This dynamic is really interesting for us and makes us glad.”

“Vallarta Lifestyles is a platform that allows us to reach the kind of market that we’re looking for. I think that, since its beginnings, 30 years ago, it has been the best publication of the destination. There’s no doubt that part of our success is for the advertising that we have in the magazine.”
