Mexican Pacific Marinas: Total Occupancy Expected for 2024
Throughout 2024, the marinas of the Mexican Pacific have experienced an unprecedented boom, with occupancy rates surpassing 95 percent. This trend, which has kept the nautical sector fully active without a low season, promises an exceptional high season in the final months of the year.
In Banderas Bay, one of Mexico’s most important nautical destinations, the five main marinas —Marina Vallarta, Marina Riviera Nayarit at La Cruz, Marina Nuevo Vallarta, Marina Paradise Village, and Marina Boutique Pueblo Náutico— have recorded occupancy rates above 85 percent, with forecasts predicting 100 percent occupancy by the end of 2024.
According to Pablo Fernández, president of the Mexican Association of Tourist Marinas, this remarkable demand has even led to waiting lists at several marinas in the region.
Fernández also highlighted that most users of these marinas are foreigners, which demonstrates the international appeal of Mexico’s Pacific coast. Approximately 90 percent of the clients are from abroad, while 5 percent are providers of nautical tourism services. This growing demand reflects not only the recovery of the nautical sector but also its expansion.
With a high season full of nautical activities ahead, the sector is working closely with maritime authorities to continue establishing Mexico as a leading global destination for nautical tourism.
