Promising a virtual journey to Tequila, Jalisco—the birthplace of the drink that bears its name—Vallarta Tequila Tastings is a new local activity provider offering a sophisticated, yet fun way to learn more about Mexico’s emblematic distilled beverage made from the blue agave plant, without leaving Puerto Vallarta, or even the comfort of your own villa, house, or condo. Whether you are tequila-curious, a connoisseur or even interested in tequila’s smoky cousin, Mezcal, there is a tasting for you. Through their extensive travels in Mexico the owners Corinna and Ricardo, have acquired a passion and respect for these magical elixirs that is evident during the tastings.

Ricardo aka “Lobo,” the tequila specialist and guide for the tastings, has studied the origins of tequila and its subtleties when created by small, artisanal producers.  He notes that the appreciation of tequila in its many forms is a growing trend for people who love fine food and drink. “Tequila has been a staple of Mexico since the Pre-Columbian era,” says Ricardo with pride. “It is my privilege to conduct tastings for groups or individuals who already enjoy tequila, or for those seeking an introduction to this iconic spirit. At school in the US, I only knew tequila as a party starter—just pour a shot and down it with salt and a wedge of lime,” says Ricardo.  “Not until I moved to Puerto Vallarta in Jalisco, the “Tequila Capital,” did I realize the sophistication of this spirit. I learned how to slowly savour the tastes, textures and aromas of the many varieties of tequila and mezcal.”

Vallarta Tequila Tastings offers a personalized service, traveling to your villa, house or private condo and can arrange tequila/food pairings with your chefs. They highlight their tequilas using a selection fruits, chocolate and spices that will surprise and delight the senses. They are also available for weddings and have locations in El Centro and in Marina Vallarta for those who are staying in hotels. Bookings can be arranged by visiting their request page on their website, vallartatequilatastings.com.

“Vallarta Lifestyles, from its inception has been a quality reference. In some way, it has managed to consolidate the destination because all our restaurants where there and we communicate as an exchange platform. The benefit, besides advertisement and recommendation, is that this publication is a solid copy of Puerto Vallarta’s evolution. If you pick up an old issue, immediately you’ll recall precious memories.”

“We have been advertising in Vallarta Lifestyles since the opening of our restaurant, and since then, we have kept a strong relationship. Due to its scope and distribution, the campaigns that we advertised regarding our different culinary projects have always been a success. This magazine has been consolidated as a benchmark that promotes the beauty of our destination in a creative and effective way.”

“There are lots of reasons why we have advertised in Vallarta Lifestyles for several years. One of them is that they know pretty well their target, because they know who are their readers and they adapt as much as possible the content and material that is offered. For these reasons they have a growing number of readers which is very important for us. Another reason is that many people  —including us— think that the magazine has been as a serious publication since its beginnings. Historically, Vallarta Lifestyles has known how to capture the audience and has done it pretty well."
