The twelfth edition of Vallarta LifestylesRestaurant Week is approaching and participating restaurants are getting ready to feature their special, fixed priced menus for foodies to savor throughout Puerto Vallarta and the Riviera Nayarit.

Since its first edition in 2005, Restaurant Week has provided diners with a unique opportunity to experience new restaurants’ delicious offerings or simply enjoy their favorite ones at reduced prices. As a result, Restaurant Week has become one of the region’s most sought-after culinary events. Taking place every year on May 15 to 31, this year’s edition will include 41 of the finest establishments in town, which will be offering three-course menus—with three options available for each course—at $229 or $349 per person (tips and beverages not included).

Mark's Bar & Grill

“Mark’s Bar and Grill” in Bucerías, Riviera Nayarit, joins the list of this year’s participating restaurants.

The success of Restaurant Week over the years can be appreciated by the large number of restaurants participating year after year. 16 restaurants have participated for the last three consecutive years, and the following restaurants have not missed a single edition: Archie’s Wok, Café des Artistes, Daiquiri Dick’s, El Arrayán, Kaiser Maximilian, The River Café, and Trio Restaurant Bar Café.

Barcelona Tapas, a renowned Spanish restaurant in downtown Puerto Vallarta, has participated in all but one edition. Owner Bill Carvallo commented: “We have participated year after year because we think this is a way to get a good sense as to what other restaurants are doing. Besides, it is a good opportunity to attract national customers.”

New restaurants see Restaurant Week as an excellent promotional strategy: “We know that Restaurant Week is a highly anticipated event by locals and visitors,” commented David Serrano from Serrano’s Meat House, a restaurant in Emiliano Zapata that opened in 2013 offering meat cuts. “For us, Restaurant Week is a great option to make our restaurant better known in one Puerto Vallarta’s most competitive areas.”

Restaurants such as Sonora a la Parrilla, a first-time participant this year, heard about Restaurant Week through word of mouth. “A customer came into my restaurant and told me about it, then I talked with a couple of other restaurant owners who had participated before in the Bucerias area and they suggested it was well worth investing into,” said owner, Kevin Alan Smith.

A change in this year’s event that everybody can look forward to is the enhanced Restaurant Week Menu Guide. “We’ve modified the dimensions of the menu guide, such that this year it will truly be something you can—and want—to carry in your pocket,” commented organizer, Paco Ojeda. The Restaurant Week Menu Guide will be available at all participating restaurants in early May.

Restaurant Week is proudly produced by Vallarta Lifestyles Publishing Group in partnership with our sponsors, Puerto Vallarta’s Tourism Bureau (visitpuertovallarta.com), the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau (rivieranayarit.com), and Bay Vallarta magazine (bayvallarta.com).
