Peace Garden at Botanical Gardens to Receive Recognition
The president of the International Peace Garden Foundation, Paula Savage, recently announced that the Peace Garden project at the Vallarta Botanical Gardens (located 40 minutes away from Puerto Vallarta) has been selected to be honored with the International Peace Garden 2017 recognition. The project is currently under construction and will be located at the entrance of the Nuestra Señora del Jardín (Our Lady of the Garden) chapel in the Gardens.
Savage commented that Puerto Vallarta is a leading tourism destination in Mexico, recognized for its respect for the diversity of cultures and human rights, and the International Peace Garden Foundation hopes to work side by side with Puerto Vallarta in order to promote world peace and friendship.
Vallarta Botanical Gardens executive director Neil Gerlowski explained that the Peace Garden will feature plants of the Mediterranean and the Holy Land, along with Mexican wildflowers. Its design will also include ornamental terraces and access ramps for disabled people. The project is expected to be completed by February 2017. The Vallarta Botanical Gardens is currently accepting tax-deductible donations for the project from Mexico, Canada and United States. For more information, please visit www.vbgardens.com.
