Puerto Vallarta wrapped up 2025 by reaffirming its resilience and enduring appeal as one of Mexico’s most consistent destinations. The city didn’t just maintain its upward trajectory; it set new records that solidify its position as a premier benchmark on the national and international tourism map.

The annual year-end report reveals a significant milestone in visitor arrivals. While 2024 saw 6,211,000 tourists, Puerto Vallarta reached a total of 6,265,000 visitors by the end of 2025. This growth was driven by a healthy market mix: 67.5 percent domestic tourism and 32.5 percent international travelers—a balance that confirms the strength of the home market while highlighting the destination’s continued relevance among foreign travelers.

The quality of the guest experience was also reflected in stay indicators. The average stay slightly exceeded three nights per guest, with an average density of 2.2 guests per room—data points that suggest a more stable tourism model with longer stays. Furthermore, the annual hotel occupancy rate hovered near 70 percent, an impressive feat considering the steady growth in available accommodations.

Throughout 2025, 1,706 new hotel rooms were added to the Puerto Vallarta metropolitan area (excluding digital rental platforms). This expansion bolsters the city’s tourism infrastructure and signals strong investor confidence in a destination that continues to evolve without losing its unique identity or charm.

The economic impact was equally noteworthy. Total revenue reached 40.924 billion pesos, with 16.757 billion pesos coming from domestic tourism and 24.167 billion pesos from international visitors.

In terms of connectivity, the Puerto Vallarta International Airport hit a new historic high, serving 6,947,700 passengers in 2025 (up from 6,803,500 last year). Of this total, 3,123,400 were domestic travelers and 3,824,300 were international.

This growth is set to be further bolstered by new flight paths, including routes from Canada’s Porter Airlines (Toronto, Ottawa, and Hamilton) and Frontier Airlines’ new flight from Atlanta. Domestically, Volaris added a connection from Morelia, expanding the destination’s regional network. Looking ahead, the arrival of Southwest Airlines flights from San Diego and Las Vegas will provide even more options for travelers.

The maritime sector also showed positive momentum. The international docks of ASIPONA Puerto Vallarta welcomed 171 cruise ships in 2025, surpassing the 167 arrivals recorded in 2024 and confirming the sustained interest of major cruise lines in including this port in their itineraries.

Beyond the impressive statistics, Puerto Vallarta continues to stand out as a destination that seamlessly blends world-class hospitality, a diverse culinary and cultural scene, exceptional natural beauty, and, above all, the genuine warmth of its people.
