Riviera Nayarit Announces Upcoming Events

After a short break during the month of August the events are back in Riviera Nayarit from September through October. Check out the list for the cream of the crop of social, cultural, sports and culinary events:

September 26 • 4th Flamingos 3-7K Race

This is a recreational race, mainly to encourage the love of sports and give runners one more excuse to vacation in the Riviera Nayarit.

September 28 – October 1 • 4th International Sport Fishing Tournament in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle.

One of the most important sport fishing tournaments in Riviera Nayarit takes place in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle. Dozens of boats will be seeking to break the records for tuna, marlin, mahi mahi and sailfish, and take home the top prizes.

September 26 – October 4 • San Francisco Patron Saint Festivities

The local Patron Saint Festivities in San Francisco, better known as San Pancho, are a very Mexican tradition held every year. Come enjoy the dances and the local verbena, or party, with its unique flair in what is considered the cultural capital of Riviera Nayarit.

October 1 • National Riviera Nayarit Triathlon Series

Litibú will host for this sporting event for those who are prepared to brave the swimming, biking and running portions on the beaches and mountains of the destination. You can’t miss it!

October 2 • 5th MTB Las Varas Mountain Bike Race

Get ready for mountain biking to the max in the Las Varas community of Compostela.

October 13 – 15 • Vidanta Celebrity Golf Tournament

The new Vidanta Golf Greg Norman Design course will be inaugurated in high style with a series of events, including this celebrity tournament with several ex NFL, NBA and PGA Tour athletes.

October 16 • Third 5K and 10K Guayabitos Race 2016

Avenida Sol Nuevo, Rincón de Guayabitos’ main thruway, will come alive with runners enjoying this casual competition and family-friendly atmosphere.

October 22 • Alfredo Barba Hernández Aquatic Marathon

This is the first time this aquatic event takes place in Riviera Nayarit—it’s not only a top-level competition but also quite a sight for visitors. Jaltemba Bay will be brimming with swimmers in search of glory.

October 23 – 26 • 8th Vallarta Nayarit Gastronómica

This year’s schedule places Vallarta Nayarit Gastronómica among the top events of its kind on the continent: 46 chefs from around the world will be participating, along with four special guests who share 6 Michelin stars among them—including Jordi Roca, who has three of those to his name.
