The 3rd Annual Riviera Nayarit Children’s Fishing Tournament will be held next Sunday April 30 at the Marina Riviera Nayarit in La Cruz de Huanacaxtle to celebrate Children’s Day. The Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau will welcome the tournament with the full support of the Banderas Bay Fishing Club.

Up to 500 kids are expected to join this free friendly competition, starting at 8:00 through 11:00am. The main goal is to encourage sport fishing, as well as environmental awareness in a family atmosphere.

Kids will fish off the pier, with the only requirement being they must be accompanied by an adult. All children will receive a free commemorative shirt, a ball, a bag full of candy, food and drinks.

There will be only one category at the competition from 3 to 12 years of age. The top 10 catches will get special prizes on behalf of the sponsors, including bikes, board games and fishing gear among other surprises.

Fish will be returned to the sea once they’re weighed to encourage environmental awareness.
