We’ve just received the latest images of the new International Peace Garden at the Vallarta Botanical Gardens!

This past Monday, January 16, the new attraction hosted its first public event titled “Sharing Peace”; which was attended by folks encouraged by the opportunity to enjoy a time of reflection and peaceful intentions for the New Year.

This special place is located at the entrance to the Nuestra Señora del Jardín (Our Lady of the Garden) chapel and has recently been awarded the distinction of Mexico’s International Peace Garden by the Peace Garden Foundation. The mayors of Puerto Vallarta and Cabo Corrientes (the municipality located south of Puerto Vallarta) jointly collaborated in this project and applied for this recognition. They selected the Vallarta Botanical Gardens as the perfect location thanks to its natural beauty and leadership in bringing together people of different nationalities and cultures.

The International Peace Garden will feature plants from the Mediterranean and the Holy Land along with Mexican wildflowers. An event will be held to celebrate the recently obtained distinction on Thursday, February 16, from 2:00pm – 4:00pm. It will be the perfect occasion to recognize the power and potential of collective actions to bring positive change to our communities. It will also celebrate and acknowledge the cooperation between the communities of Puerto Vallarta and Cabo Corrientes as a model that can be replicated in other parts of Mexico and the world.

Representatives of the international Peace Garden Foundation
The mayors of Puerto Vallarta and Cabo Corrientes
Garden management and board representatives
Cheryl L. Wheeler, the lead patron of the International Peace Garden.
