Local photographer Ulises L. Guerrero has announced an upcoming exhibition with an opening on Wednesday, October 26 and a special installation for Day of the Dead. Better known for his work in wedding and commercial photography throughout Banderas Bay, the artist has chosen to showcase his personal, creative work instead.

The exhibition is titled “Viendo mas alla de la realidad,” or looking beyond reality. An artist’s interpretation of reality, what is “real,” is always an incredible thing to witness. Whether the artist is painting a canvas, playing a piano, sculpting clay or taking pictures, their interpretation of life is what they share with the world. Through their art we are able to see and feel beyond our reality and approach the beautiful and the creative in ways we might not be able to do on our own.

A professional photographer for over 10 years with an array of experience in both photography and film. Guerrero’s vision of life and color, the human experience and the spirit world, is intoxicating. He tries to prove, with his lense, that he can make a positive change in those that witness his work. Integrating his own spirituality in his work, he approaches the image with a sense of beauty and consciousness that can be felt by the observer.

The opening of the show is on Wednesday October 26th, together with the opening night of the Art Walk downtown.  There will be music, beverages and canapés to celebrate opening night. The show runs continually until November 15th and will have a special installation for Day of the Dead. During the exposition there will also be “meet the artist” on Wednesday nights, DJs on the weekends and rotating video art installations.

The space is Arte 160 Gallery, located at 664 Morelos in El Centro. It is the first of its kind in the area; an urban art gallery host to pieces from some of Vallarta’s very own urban artists.  Over the years, Ulises has worked on many colorful collaborations with some of these personalities and is proud to be part of an upcoming space where their work can be seen.

"Vallarta Lifestyles is very similar to The Agency, we have a similar client base, [residents and tourists] who seek for information about the topics that are featured in each issue; lifestyle, restaurants, and architecture, among others. And, because the way your magazines are located, we can really capture the clients we want."

“We started to advertise 7 or 8 years ago and certainly it has helped us position our brand. Now that we have improved a lot in quality, processes and finished products, our marketing in the magazine is precisely to strengthen the leadership we have earned through the 13 years in the area. I also think that we also have grown with the advertisement and that it has been done and it has helped us get to where we are now.”
