Vallarta – Nayarit Hosts Major Events This Month

May in Puerto Vallarta and the Riviera Nayarit means plenty to do for visitors and locals alike. Major sport events and one of the most eagerly awaited culinary experiences of the year will be taking place in the region.

The 2016 Laser World Championship (May 10 – 18 / May 22 – 30)

The last two of four stages of this international sailing event will be taking place in the Riviera Nayarit, hosted this year by Vallarta Yacht Club in Nuevo Vallarta. First, the Laser Standard Men’s World Championship from May 10-18 and then the Laser Masters World Championship from May 22-30.

700 competitors and 250 judges from around the world will be attending the event.

Restaurant Week (May 15 – 31)

The twelfth Anniversary Edition of Restaurant Week will feature 41 of the most coveted restaurants in Puerto Vallarta and the Riviera Nayarit, which will be offering three options of three-course menus at fixed prices for two weeks, starting on May 15.

This food-related event is organized by Vallarta Lifestyles Magazine, in collaboration with the Riviera Nayarit Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board, and Bay Vallarta Magazine.

Riviera Nayarit Wind Festival (May 20-22)

The seventh edition of the Wind Fest will be held in Bucerías—also known as the wind capital of Riviera Nayarit—the perfect stage for practicing kitesurfing and other aquatic sports fueled by the ocean breeze.

The festival will feature competitions from different kitesurfing modalities: DownWind, FreeStyle, Course Racing and Big Air.

Riviera Nayarit Mountain Bike (May 28)

Over 300 riders will gather for a tour along one of the most scenic and fun routes of the domestic Jalisco’s Mountain Cycling League race: the mountains of Higuera Blanca. Featuring 26 categories, the competition has something to offer every kind of mountain bike enthusiast.

Litibú – located 2 km north Punta de Mita – will be the meeting point for competitors the day of the event. Registration and more information about the route of the race and prizes are available at the event website.
