Vallarta Yacht Club’s Junior Sailing Program

We decided to take a closer look at this amazing training program, intended to expose youngsters of all nationalities in the area, along with their families, to the enjoyment of sailing.

Founded in the early 90s, the Vallarta Yacht Club in Nuevo Vallarta is a non-profit, private membership organization known for its service to members and contributions to yachting in the Banderas Bay region. They provide an active social environment for residents and visitors interested in yachting and other nautical activities, such as sport fishing, sport diving and paddle boarding. In addition, the Vallarta Yacht Club is host to world-class international competitions and sponsors charitable events and activities to benefit their educational goals, including the Junior Sailing Program.

We visited the Vallarta Yacht Club early this week to see some of the young students in action. The program has three levels of instruction for kids and young adults 7 – 24 years of age. Through the Junior Sailing Program, children have the opportunity to learn, in a safe and protected environment, skills and knowledge that can allow them to enter a sport that can provide a lifetime of great joy and friendships.
